I have been a photographer for around 50 years. I don’t specialise in any one subject although I do have a leaning towards landscape photography. A lot of my pictures are taken in North Yorkshire and mainly in the Dales. I am not from Yorkshire but we do spend a lot of time up there wandering around and admiring the Dales national park and the North York Moors.
Even though I have been pointing cameras at subjects for a very long time I decided that I wanted to take a course on digital photography with the Open University, T189, and I was surprised at how much I didn’t know! I suppose like a lot of enthiusiast photographers I am mostly self taught and while I knew that what I was doing worked, I wasn’t sure why. I felt that I was formalising my knowledge of the subject by taking the course. Now I occasionaly meet up with past and present T189’ers on photo days out.
I have a certain fascination with sky pictures. The sky provides opportunities for creating some very interesting images, and if you don’t see an opportunity at first you won’t have long to wait for a different one to float into view.
I also like monochromatic pictures and I really enjoy the post production side of photography, so when I see an image that could make a good subject for a mono conversion I will take it and see what I can get from it.
I recently achieved a distinction with the Royal Photographic Society. I had worked on my portfolio for some months and submitted it to the R.P.S and was awarded a Licentiateship, something I am very proud of.
All my images on this site are low resolution and small size. They are my own original work and I claim copyright on them all. None of my images on this web site can be classified as “Orphan works” If you really want to use any of them then why not drop me an e-mail – athyfoto@virginmedia.com to discuss usage.

I’m contacting you to offer you an award for your blog.
I have recently received a Liebster Award for my Photoblog, and by the rules of acceptance, I must pass it on to five other people and I hope you will accept my invitation to be one of my five to whom I pass the Award.
The Liebster award is only given to Blogs that have fewer than 200 signed-up followers and I think (but I may be wrong) that your blog fulfils that requirement.
The idea is to encourage Blogs by helping to increase traffic to their sites. I really like your blog and it deserves a wider readership and its British! Receiving a Liebster should help to increase awareness of your blog.
This is a brief preliminary email to offer you the award. If you qualify and if you would like to know more about the other simple conditions then I will be delighted to send you a further email about the award.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Andy
Tell me more!
